Moses was born on May 31st, 1830 in Turkeyfoot Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, USA.1   Moses' father was Henry F Younkin and his mother was Mary King (Younkin).  His paternal grandparents were Frederick G Younkin and Catherine Patton (Younkin). He had seven brothers and four sisters, named William, Alfred, Harrison, Silas, John, Ross, Jerry, Cassie, Rachel, Mary and Hilah.  He died at the age of 61 on January 21st, 1892 in New Whatcom (Bellingham), Whatcom County, Washington, USA.1 

Moses' first family

Moses and Lavila were married in a religious & civil ceremony on June 5th, 1851.1   They had six sons and two daughters, named John, Edwin, William, Walter, Robert, Moses, Emma and Carrie.
