Daniel's father was Johann Kraft and his mother was Anna Louisa Sprecher (Kraft, Haehn, Sommerfeld). His maternal grandparents were Gottfried Sprecher and Anna Katharina Sokolosky (Sprecher). He had a brother and a sister, named Gottfried and Anna. He was the oldest of the three children. He had two half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Andreas, Johann, Louise, Catharina, Maria, Karolina and Juliana.
