Anna was born on September 18th, 1843 in Leipzig (Leibzig), Bessarabia, Russia (now Ukraine).1  Anna's father was Johann Kraft and her mother was Anna Louisa Sprecher (Kraft, Haehn, Sommerfeld).  Her maternal grandparents were Gottfried Sprecher and Anna Katharina Sokolosky (Sprecher). She had two brothers named Daniel and Gottfried.  She was the second oldest of the three children. She had two half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Andreas, Johann, Louise, Catharina, Maria, Karolina and Juliana.
