Charles was born on February 24th, 1910 in Hammondville, Bullskin township, Fayette County,  Pennsylvania, USA.1  Charles' father was Charles Sumner Hebenthal and his mother was Margaret Hart (Hebenthal).  His paternal grandparents were Henry Hebenthal and Elizabeth B Slonecker (Hebenthal); his maternal grandparents were Henry D Hart and Nancy Calhoun (Hart). He had five brothers and four sisters, named Russell, Harry, Edward, George, Elmer, Evalyn, Lillian, Hazel and Ethel.  He was the youngest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 70 on November 19th, 1980 in Scottdale, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, USA.  He was buried at the Scottdale Cemetary, Scottdale, Pennsylvania, USA.1

Charles and Margaret were married in a religious & civil ceremony on August 22nd, 1936 in Wellsburg, WVA.1   They had two sons and a daughter, named Charles, Alton and Sandra.
