Mary Jane Raine 
Mary was born in 1849 in Middleton, Teesdale, Co Durham.1 Mary's father was Thomas Raine and her mother was Jane Wearmouth. Her paternal grandparents were John Raine and Mary Bainbridge; her maternal grandparents were John Wearmouth and Elizabeth Watson. She had four brothers named John, Thomas, Charles and Philip. She was the youngest of the five children. She had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Matthew, James, William, Thomas, Joseph, Agnes, Margaret and Ellen.-
