Charles Raine 
Charles was born in 1845 in Middleton, Teesdale, Co Durham.1 Charles' father was Thomas Raine and his mother was Jane Wearmouth. His paternal grandparents were John Raine and Mary Bainbridge; his maternal grandparents were John Wearmouth and Elizabeth Watson. He had three brothers and a sister, named John, Thomas, Philip and Mary. He was the third oldest of the five children. He had five half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Matthew, James, William, Thomas, Joseph, Agnes, Margaret and Ellen.-
