Jane was born in 1783 in Nether Witton, Northumberland and her baptism took place there on December 28th, 1783. Jane's father was John Farrer and her mother was Isabel Amery. She had four brothers and a sister, named James, John, Thomas, David and Ann. She was the second youngest of the six children.
