Mark's father was Benjamin Whitney and his mother was Mary Poor.  His paternal grandparents were John Whitney and Elinor. He had a brother named Isaac. He had six half-brothers and a half-sister, named Nathaniel, Timothy, John, Jonathan, Benjamin, Joshua and Jane.
