Marie was born on July 18th, 1813.  Marie's father was Alexandra Paul Mire and her mother was Marie Celestine Lanoue.  Her paternal grandparents were Joachim  (Bénoni) dit Bénoni Lemire and Madeleine Melançon; her maternal grandparents were Pierre Lanoue and Catalina LeBlanc. She had four brothers and a sister, named Belonie, Joesph, Paul, Pierre and Victorine.  She was the fourth oldest of the six children.
