Belonie was born on December 19th, 1802.  Belonie's father was Alexandra Paul Mire and his mother was Marie Celestine Lanoue.  His paternal grandparents were Joachim  (Bénoni) dit Bénoni Lemire and Madeleine Melançon; his maternal grandparents were Pierre Lanoue and Catalina LeBlanc. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Joesph, Paul, Pierre, Marie and Victorine.  He was the oldest of the six children.
