Alexandra was born in May 1779.  Alexandra's father was Joachim  (Bénoni) dit Bénoni Lemire and his mother was Madeleine Melançon.  His paternal grandparents were Pierre Lemire and Marie Josèphe Forest; his maternal grandparents were Jacques Melançon and Marguerite Brossard. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Benjamin, Jean, Pierre, Joseph, Belhonnt, Scholastique, Marie, Félicité, Rosalie, Marguerite and Madgeleine.
