Francisca was born on July 19th, 1842.  Francisca's father was Augustinus Pieters and her mother was Ursula Rosalie Verhamme.  Her paternal grandparents were François Pieters and Ivonne Carolina Vanlandere; her maternal grandparents were Joannes Verhamme and Sophia Depoortere. She had four brothers named Joannes Baptiste, Carolus Ludovicus, Fredericus and Ivo.  She was the youngest of the five children.
