Desiderius was born on February 15th, 1837.  Desiderius' father was Lucas Bernardus Algoet and his mother was Anna Theresia Buyse.  His paternal grandparents were Adrianus Algoet and Anna Maria Coudijzer; his maternal grandparents were Felix Buyze and Isabelle Rose Dhoop. He had two brothers and a sister, named Frederic Henri, Francois and Barbara.  He was the third oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 1 on July 7th, 1838.
