Max was born on March 30th, 1859 in Bleicherode, Germany..  Max's father was Philipp Schlesinger and his mother was Rosette  Schlesinger, born Rothschild.  His paternal grandparents were Elias Schlesinger and Enkele or Luene. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Elias (Emil), Joseph (Julius), Siegmund, Moritz, Adolph, Johanne, Friederike and Rosalie.  He was the youngest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 76 on November 2nd, 1935 in Berlin, Germany.
