• Philipp's occupation was Founder of the weavingmill and textile business.

    • The weavingmill "Phillipp Schlesinger" was established in 1836 . He employed about 100 weavers. In 1874 it became the "Mechanical Phillipp Schlesinger Weavingmill OHG", which he rebuilt on the bank of the river Wipper in the little hamlet Niedergebra, a few km. from Bleicherode.It was mainly a  linnen and cotton mill.
      
      Later his two oldest sons, Elias and Julius became partners in the firm, which Julius left in 1909.
      
      The three oldest children of Elias, Oscar Allice and Walter became partners in the firm. Later the huband of Elsa, Max Helft became joint owner .
      
      The firm was owned by them until 1938, when they had to sell to the Nazi rulers.
