Hiram was born on May 2nd, 1856 in Codyville, Washington County, Maine.  Hiram's father was John W Cochran and his mother was Orena A Day.  His maternal grandparents were Elisha Day Sr. and Hannah (Jane) Jane Atkinson. He had six brothers and six sisters, named William, Charles, John, George, James, Freeman, Mary, Eliza, Melvina, Evelyn, Orena and Etta.  He was the seventh oldest of the thirteen children.  He died at the age of 73 on December 22nd, 1929 in Codyville, Washington County, Maine.

‌Hiram and Clara were married.  They had three sons and six daughters, named George, Kenneth, Hiram (Charlie), Lillie, Amy, Elsie, Dora, Freda and Hattie (Billie).
