Charles was born in January 1845. Charles' father was John W Cochran and his mother was Orena A Day. His maternal grandparents were Elisha Day Sr. and Hannah (Jane) Jane Atkinson. He had six brothers and six sisters, named William, John, George, Hiram, James, Freeman, Mary, Eliza, Melvina, Evelyn, Orena and Etta. He was the third oldest of the thirteen children. He died at the age of 33 on February 4th, 1878.
