Bernard was born on August 20th, 1891 in Sharon, Norfolk, Massachusetts. Bernard's father was Arthur Allen Bailey and his mother was Caroline Holbrook.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph Bailey III and Nancy Trowt ; his maternal grandparents were Levi (Frederick) Frederick Holbrook and Mary Frances Estey. He had a brother and a sister, named Frederick and Catherine ?.  He was the second oldest of the three children.  He died from a heart attack at the age of 80 on June 25th, 1972 in Medina, New York.  He was buried in Lynhaven Cemetary, Lyndonville, New York.
