Margaret was born in December 1874 in Born on ship on arrival in Auckland, NZ. Margaret's father was Haylett "John" Daines and her mother was Mary Ann Bugg.  Her paternal grandparents were William Daines and Elizabeth Hales; her maternal grandparents were William Rush and Sarah Ann Bugg. She had three brothers and six sisters, named William, Stephen, George, Sarah, Barbara, Matilda, Mary, Barbara 'Nellie' and Alice Agnes.  She died from a heart attack, Coronary Thrombosis, Hypertension and arterio sclerosis and diabetes mellitus, at the age of 79 on January 1st, 1954.  She was buried on January 2nd, 1954 in Eltham, Taranaki, NZ.1
