His paternal grandparents were Benjamin T [Sr @@] Thornton and Sarah E [@@] Upshaw. He was the fifth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 53 on October 30th, 1881 in Hart Co, GA. He was buried in Northview Cemetery, Hart County, Georgia.-
