Jane was born on September 22nd, 1571 in Wiston, Sussex, England and her baptism took place on September 26th, 1571 in At, Wiston, Sussex, England. Jane's father was Thomas Shirley and her mother was Anne Kempe dau of Sir Thomas Kempe of Wye by Catherine Chenye. Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Kempe and Cecily Katherine Cheyney. She had three brothers and six sisters, named Thomas, Anthony, Robert, Isabel, Maria, Elizabeth (Margaret), Cecily, Cicely and Anne. She was the third youngest of the ten children.General Notes
