John Read 
John was born in 1673 in Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts.1 John's father was Samuel Read and his mother was Hopestill Holbrook. His maternal grandparents were William Holbrook and Elizabeth Pitts. He had three brothers and a sister, named Samuel, Josiah, Ebenezer and Mercy. He was the second oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 76 in 1749.1 General Notes
