Robert B. 'Rainer' was born on April 12th, 1848 in Kings Mountain, Cleveland Co, NC. Robert B. 'Rainer''s father was George Goforth and his mother was Nancy Jane Houser. His maternal grandparents were Henry Houser and Faithy Jones. He had four brothers and three sisters, named John Franklin, Henry Wright, James Marion, Preston S., Amanda Harriet Elizabeth, Nancy Jane and Ellen S.. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 73 on May 9th, 1921 in Spear, Avery Co, NC. He was buried on May 10th, 1921 in Yellow Mountain Cemetery, Plumtree, Avery Co, NC.General Notes
