Her paternal grandparents were George Washington Garton and Mary Susan Shipley. She had six brothers and five sisters, named Charles Lee, Louis Lyle, Lloyd Orville, Claire Allen, Mardis Woodrow, James Richard, Ufa Imogene, Fern Elizabeth, LaRue Ellen, Doris Dean and Alice Adelle. She was the third oldest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 16 on October 24th, 1913 in , Wayne County, Iowa, USA.1 -
