Leona Melisa was born in 1861 in Jefferson, Illinois, United States. Leona Melisa's father was John Foster and her mother was Hellen Jane Stonecipher. Her paternal grandparents were Lancelot Foster and Lucy Johnson. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Isaac LEWIS, Joseph Twin Foster, Joseph Michael, Mary Jane, Elizabeth Ann, Harriet Marie and Laura Evelyn. She was the second youngest of the eight children. She died at the age of 1 in 1862.-
