Harriet Marie was born on July 12th, 1859 in Jefferson, Illinois, United States. Harriet Marie's father was John Foster and her mother was Hellen Jane Stonecipher. Her paternal grandparents were Lancelot Foster and Lucy Johnson. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Isaac LEWIS, Joseph Twin Foster, Joseph Michael, Mary Jane, Elizabeth Ann, Leona Melisa and Laura Evelyn. She was the fourth youngest of the eight children.-
