Mary Jane Despain 
Mary was born on July 9th, 1827 in Jackson County, Alabama.1 Mary's father was John B. Despain and her mother was Malinda A. Bazor. Her paternal grandparents were James Scott DeSpain and Susan (Sally) Peterson; her maternal grandparents were John Bazor and Mary. She had eight brothers and seven sisters, named James, Joseph, John, Henry, Hutty, Fielding, Lewis, Edward, Sary, Nancy, Polly, Sally, Rebecca, Araminta and Patsy. She was the second oldest of the sixteen children.-
