James Scott Despain 
James was born on December 28th, 1828 in Green County, Kentucky.1 James' father was John B. Despain and his mother was Malinda A. Bazor. His paternal grandparents were James Scott DeSpain and Susan (Sally) Peterson; his maternal grandparents were John Bazor and Mary. He had seven brothers and eight sisters, named Joseph, John, Henry, Hutty, Fielding, Lewis, Edward, Sary, Mary, Nancy, Polly, Sally, Rebecca, Araminta and Patsy.
