Mary Matilda Ashwell 
Mary Matilda was born on August 12th, 1872 in Bedford Co, Va. Mary Matilda's father was Carey Austin Ashwell and her mother was Frances West Howell. Her paternal grandparents were James "Meredith" ("Meredith") Ashwell and Sarah "Sally" Jane Ellis. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named Daniel L., Silas Pleasant, John William, Robert Austin, Alexander Austin, Aubrey, "Infant son", Victoria Catherine and Sophia Jane. She was the fourth oldest of the ten children. She died at the age of 78 on August 22nd, 1950 in Leasburg, Caswell Co, North Carolina. She was buried in Yanceyville, Caswell Co, North Carolina.General Notes
