Giles was born about 1627 in Bourton-on-the-Hill, Gloucestershire, England. Giles' father was Sir Giles Overby and his mother was Ann Shirley Shurley. His paternal grandparents were Sir Nicholas Overby and Mary Palmer; his maternal grandparents were Sir John Shurley and Jane Shirley. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, Nicholas, John, Edward, Richard, Anne and Mary. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He died on August 7th, 1637 in Bourton-on-the-Hill, Gloucestershire, England.-
