Samuel Martin was born on June 3rd, 1844 in Tennessee. Samuel Martin's father was James H. Moss CSA and his mother was Sarah H. Fisher. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Moss and Elizabeth Smith. He had four brothers and eight sisters, named Thomas James Fletcher, Newton Foote Neale, William T., John H. W., Margaret Elizabeth, Emily Jane, Parmelia Ann, Hettie Frances, Sarah Catherine, Mary Elizabeth, Ellen Tennessee and Nancy M.. He died at the age of 80 on March 25th, 1925 in Hickman Co., Tennessee. He was buried in Potts-Moss Cemetery, (Hickman Co.), Tennessee.General Notes
