Anna Phelps Youel married John Elton Youel. The adoped a son from an orphanage who never married. He was oriental or part oriental.
In her later years, Anna was not well and lived in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania with her son Harlan who worked for Gulf Oil Company - later Chevron. Anna had tic douloureux in both sides of her face - corrective surgery did not help much. She had many strokes and eventually died from a stroke.
She was buried in Prattsburg, New York - is located on part of the old Phelps-Gorham grant which was some 900,000 acres of land in central New York state. They eventually sold most of it to Robert Morris who went broke trying to develop it. Harlan is buried next to her.
She lived in Alaska where her husband was a minister of the Presbyterian Church in the 1920's. They lived in Dallas, Oregon on September 17, 1924.
