Mary was born in 1483 in Smallbridge, Essex, England.1   Mary's father was William Walgrave and her mother was Margery Wentworth. She had four brothers and five sisters, named George, Walgrave, William, Edmond, Margaret, Jane, Briget, Anne and Dorothy.  She was the fourth oldest of the ten children.1
