Luther P. was born on July 7th, 1885 in Marion, Illinois.1   Luther P.'s father was Jesse Stonecipher and his mother was Ella Waggner.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Stonecipher and Elender Goddard. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Leonodas H., Layman C., Ebon B., Alice Maude, Ruth May, Nellie and Nettie.  He was the fourth youngest of the eight children. He had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named James Sampson, John Calvin, Timothy Greely, Thomas Isham, Lucy Elender and Estelmonet Lincoln.1
