James Sampson Stonecipher 
James Sampson was born on August 23rd, 1854 in Morgan County, Tennessee.1 James Sampson's father was Jesse Stonecipher and his mother was Sarah Melton. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Stonecipher and Elender Goddard. He had three brothers and two sisters, named John Calvin, Timothy Greely, Thomas Isham, Lucy Elender and Estelmonet Lincoln. He was the oldest of the six children. He had four half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Leonodas H., Layman C., Luther P., Ebon B., Alice Maude, Ruth May, Nellie and Nettie. He died at the age of 71 on May 9th, 1926 in Iuka, Marion, Illinois.1 -
