John Secrest 
John was born on January 3rd, 1811 in Hampshire, Virginia.1 John's father was Henry Secrest and his mother was Elizabeth Spaid. His paternal grandparents were Fredrick Secrest and Catherine Secrest; his maternal grandparents were George Nicholas Spaid(Spaht) and Elizabeth Cale. He had seven brothers and a sister, named Abraham, George W., Michael, Fredrick, Mathias, William, Valentine and Elizabeth. He was the oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 72 on January 29th, 1883.1 -
