David was born on May 29th, 1755.1   David's father was Azariah Rood and his mother was Desire Prime.  His paternal grandparents were Jonathan Rood and Margaret. He had three brothers and a sister, named William, Azariah, Silas and Betsey.  He was the third oldest of the five children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Thomas Drakeley, Desire and Lydia.1
