Erasmus Darwin was born about 1839.1   Erasmus Darwin's father was Learned Rich and his mother was Amanda Pierce.  His paternal grandparents were Nathaniel Rich and Phebe Putnam. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Erasmus Darwin, Zina Pitcher, Unknown, Learned Bush, Smith Weed, Arthur Draper, Cornelis, Adeline, Unknown, Ann Amanda and Roana.  He was the youngest of the twelve children.1
