Erasmus Darwin was born on September 4th, 1809.1   Erasmus Darwin's father was Learned Rich and his mother was Amanda Pierce.  His paternal grandparents were Nathaniel Rich and Phebe Putnam. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named Zina Pitcher, Unknown, Learned Bush, Smith Weed, Arthur Draper, Cornelis, Erasmus Darwin, Adeline, Unknown, Ann Amanda and Roana.  He was the oldest of the twelve children.  He died at the age of 24 on April 1st, 1834.1
