Erasmus D. Rice 
Erasmus D. was born on May 3rd, 1803 in Westminister, Massachusetts.1 Erasmus D.'s father was Asaph Rice and his mother was Abigail Sawyer. His paternal grandparents were Asaph Rice and Thankful Clough. He had a brother and five sisters, named Amory, Adaline, Sarah, Adelia, Jane and Catherine. He died at the age of 75 on January 11th, 1879 in lewistown, Illinois.1 General Notes

Dr. Erasmus Rice was the son of Dr. Asaph Rice and (Abigail) Sawyer Rice. He was descended from Edmund Rice who came to Massachusetts in 1639. In 1830, Dr. Rice came west and settled in Lewistown where he practiced medicine until his fatal illness. He died at home January 11, 1879. He served on the session of the First Presbyterian church in Lewistown and was the clerk of the session for 30 years.
