Rev. Asaph Rice was a missionary to the Indians for a short time. He was ordained on October 16, 1765 as second minister of a Congregational Church in Westminister, Mass for fifty years. He was also a physician. He graduated from Harvard University in 1752. He practiced medicine and practiced a short while at Brookfield "but having had the wrist of his bridle arm broken by his horse falling with him, he was induced to enter the ministry."
