William Ashman was born in June 1880 in Screven Co., GA.1 William Ashman's father was John Thomas Parker and his mother was Marie Louise Black. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Parker and Mary Waters; his maternal grandparents were William Ashman Black and Mary Isabell Barnett. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Oliver, Warren, Richardson Sealy, Thomas U., Eugenia W., Mary W., Ella L. and Miriam J.. He was the oldest of the nine children.
