Miriam J. was born in December 1895 in Savannah, Chatham Co., GA.¹ Miriam J.'s father was John Thomas Parker and her mother was Marie Louise Black. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Parker and Mary Waters; her maternal grandparents were William Ashman Black and Mary Isabell Barnett. She had five brothers and three sisters, named William Ashman, Oliver, Warren, Richardson Sealy, Thomas U., Eugenia W., Mary W. and Ella L.. She was the youngest of the nine children.¹
