Alvin S. was born on August 23rd, 1881 in Colchester, McDonough County, Illinois. Alvin S.'s father was Alvin S. Martin and his mother was Sarah Hill. His paternal grandparents were Sedate Paddle Martin and Almira Nash; his maternal grandparents were William Hill and Rachel Unknown. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Edison A., Homer Henry, John William, Viola E., Francis Adeline, Etta D. and Eva H.. He was the third youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 75 on December 1st, 1956 in LaHarpe, Hancock County, Illinois. He was buried in LaHarpe, Hancock County, Illinois.General Notes

Disco Man Dies, Funeral Held in LaHarpe Tuesday
Funeral services for Alvin S. Martin, 76 of Disco were held Tuesday at 2 PM in the Banks Funeral Home of LaHarpe, the Rev Phillip Hedgecock officating. Burial was in LaHarpe Cemetery.
Mr. Martin died Saturday in Mary Davier Hospital in LaHarpe. He had entered the hospital the day before.
Born in Colchester August 23, 1881, he was the son of Alvin S. and Sarah Hill Martin. He married Nora Belle Sights of Disco July 26, 1905.
They have lived in Disco for the past 39 years. Mr. Martin was a carpenter by trade.
Surviving are the widow; two sons, William of Quincy and Harry of Maquoeta, two grandchildern and one great grandchild. One brother, Homer of Birmingham and one sister, Mrs. Addie McClear of Quincy.
