Josiah was born on June 16th, 1837.1   Josiah's father was Jimmerson "Jimpse" Kennedy and his mother was Nicey Collins.  His paternal grandparents were Stephen Kennedy and Mary Holland. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Eli, William, Stephen, Michael, John, Ann Jane and America.  He was the oldest of the eight children. He had six half-brothers and a half-sister, named Seaborn B., Perry, Lee, Wright, Edward Hartridge, Tillman and Sarah.  He died at the age of 81 on November 18th, 1918.1
