Samuel was born about 1643 in New England.1   Samuel's father was Simon Hoyt and his mother was Susannah Smith.  His paternal grandparents were John Hoyt and Ruth Unknown. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Moses, Joshua, Benjamin, Mary, Miriam and Sarah. He had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Walter, Thomas, Nicholas, John, Deborah and Ruth.  He died on April 7th, 1720 in Stamford, CT.1
