Ruth was born in Upway, Dorchester, Dorsetshire, England.1   Ruth's father was Simon Hoyt and her mother was Deborah Stowers.  Her paternal grandparents were John Hoyt and Ruth Unknown. She had four brothers and a sister, named Walter, Thomas, Nicholas, John and Deborah. She had four half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Moses, Joshua, Samuel, Benjamin, Mary, Miriam and Sarah.  She died on May 9th, 1627 in Upway, Dorchester, Dorsetshire, England.1
