Hugh was born in 1700 in Ireland.1   Hugh's father was William Gaston and his mother was Olivet Lemon. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Justice John, Robert, William, Alexander, Elizabeth, Mary, Jennett and Martha.  He was the oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 66 on October 20th, 1766 in Chester Co, South Carolina.1
