His paternal grandparents were David Dickey and Elizabeth; his maternal grandparents were John A. Joyner and Sarah Frances Cubbedge. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Raliegh David, Herschel S., Ossie, Ira, Otis L., Lizzie Ophelia, Alice and Sallie. He died at the age of 70 in February 1966 in Jesup, Wayne Co., GA.
