John A. was born on December 18th, 1840.1   John A.'s father was William Joyner and his mother was Clary Bragg.  His maternal grandparents were John Bragg and Mary Sasser. He had two brothers and three sisters, named William B., Thomas, Elizabeth, Rosa A. and Clarisa.  He was the oldest of the six children.  He died at the age of 89 on April 23rd, 1930.1
